NCMIC Launches New Charitable Contributions Platform

NCMIC is excited to announce a new internal charitable contributions platform built using Salesforce. This replaces Bright Funds and will be used by employees for all charitable requests including matching gifts, board incentives, sponsorships etc. 

The new platform is easy to use and can be accessed through a link on the Business Loop under Application Quick Links, on UltiPro under HR Resources News or directly here.

HR will notify you once your request has been processed and or if there is any additional information needed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact HR for help.


Salad Bar Help Wanted

We are looking for NCMIC employees who would be interested in volunteering to help with our Salad Bar. Helpers should be available from 10:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Responsibilities include refilling items on the salad bar and keeping the salad bar area clean.

If you are interested, please let Molly O’Neill know and she will put you on the schedule.


Coffee Reminder

A friendly reminder to all staff regarding the brewed Black and Bold Coffee…it will be brewed on the first and third floor, Tuesday-Thursday, ending at 11 a.m. If you’d like to have coffee after 11 a.m., there are K-cups available in all canteen areas. 


Miles Away Credit Card Updates

NCMIC is in the process of transitioning all MilesAway® credit cards to Visa Signature® credit cards. This means new and exciting benefits for all cardholders, including employees. 

If you have a MilesAway card, here are a few important items and dates to keep in mind, as well as a list of Visa Signature benefits.

Important Reminders

  • WATCH for your new card to arrive. It shipped on Feb. 15. If you do not receive it, email the team at milesaway@ncmic.com.

  • ACTIVATE your new card by calling (800) 631-3197 or visiting MyMilesAway.com beginning on Feb. 26 at 5 a.m. CST.

  • CUT UP your MilesAway Mastercard®. It will automatically deactivate on Feb. 26, without any action needed from you.

  • NOTE that any reward points you’ve accumulated will transfer to your new card.

  • SET UP any recurring payments with your new card.

  • TAKE your new card with you if traveling at the end of February so you can use it.                        

MilesAway Card Benefits 

  • Visa Signature Business Card benefits, including:

    • Lost luggage reimbursement

    • Roadside dispatch (restrictions may apply)

    • Travel accident insurance

    • Auto rental collision damage waiver

    • Travel and emergency assistance services

  • Mobile app to conveniently set alerts, put your card in travel or stop mode, and much more

Employee Handbook Update

NCMIC continually reviews and updates its Employee Handbook to ensure we follow federal and state guidelines, remain competitive and help clarify questions. Several updates were made, effective as of February 2023 (unless otherwise noted). These updates supersede any prior version(s) of the handbook. 

The updated NCMIC Employee Handbook will be posted to UltiPro. Employees are asked to complete the Handbook Acknowledgement Form in UltiPro by Friday, Feb. 24. Access the form at Menu>Myself>Documents>DocumentAcknowledgments.


MLiQ Wellness App Demonstration

As announced at the NCMIC FIT kickoff, employees will have the opportunity to download and use the MLiQ Wellness app. Join us via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. with our special guest host, Dr. Riekeman as he demonstrates the app and goes through some important how-to’s. Employees will be able to sign up on the spot during this meeting. If you cannot attend, it will be recorded and sent out to staff afterwards. 


Bonus Time Reminder

With the bonus payment falling on a separate pay period of March 1, this is a reminder that the bonus is 401k eligible.

If you would like to make changes to your 401k before the bonus payment, please see the timeline below:

  • Bonus pay: Please make any changes to your Fidelity account starting Tuesday, Feb. 21 and no later than Thursday, Feb. 23.

  • For March 10 regular pay – If you made changes and are wanting to change back, please do so starting Tuesday, Feb. 28 – Friday, March 3.

All changes need to be made through your Fidelity account. Log in here to make changes.


Period Packing Party Volunteers Needed

In honor of International Women’s Day, NCMIC is excited to announce that we will be part of the 4th Annual Give Grace Give Hope Period Packing Party on Wednesday, March 8 at The Hall, 111 S. 11th St., West Des Moines.

Give Grace Give Hope is co-owned by our very own, Melissa Knutson. Its mission is to “eliminate the gap between need and access of menstrual product for low income and homeless individuals. We do this by providing menstrual products to homeless shelters, schools, women’s resource centers and other human service organizations.”

There is a morning (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) and an afternoon (1 – 3 p.m.) session, with 20 spots available in each.

If you are interested in participating in the Period Packing Party, please sign up here. If you get a spot at one of the NCMIC tables, you DO NOT need to register for the event on the event site. Please sign up by end of day Friday, Feb. 24.
